International Cooperation

The participation of the Institute of Animal Science in the international scientific research network is expressed through the implementation of scientific mobility of the Institute’s researchers, participation in bilateral collaborations, development of joint projects, and memberships in global scientific research institutions.

The Institute of Animal Science works as a coordinator and partner in European Union programs such as COST, SEE ERA.NET, ETP, EUREKA, FP7, and others. Our partners include Serbia, Romania, Greece, Turkey, North Macedonia, Austria, and France. These projects contribute to the implementation of scientific and educational initiatives, exchange of researchers, and provision of modern technical equipment for laboratory facilities. Scientists from the Institute participate as evaluators of European projects, members of editorial boards of scientific journals, and reviewers of scientific papers.

The Institute of Animal Science organizes and participates annually in international scientific events on current issues in animal science and is an initiator of numerous seminars and conferences where our researchers meet distinguished representatives of science from other countries.

The Institute of Animal Science holds individual membership in the prestigious international organizations ISOFAR (International Society of Organic Agriculture Research), ESVP (European School of Veterinary Pathology), and ISAH, as well as collective membership in international networks such as Agrifoodresearch.net, Cattlenetwork, see-science.eu, ERA Link, EU Agri.net, and others. These memberships contribute to improving awareness, promoting the Institute’s scientific developments, and participation in various initiatives.

The Institute of Animal Science has officially established international scientific contacts with institutes and organizations from 13 countries:

  • Serbia – Institute of Animal Husbandry, Zemun, Belgrade, and Institute of Food Technology, Novi Sad;
  • Russia – Penza State Agricultural Academy, Penza, and the All-Russian Research Institute of Physiology, Biochemistry and Nutrition of Farm Animals, Borovsk;
  • Belarus – Grodno Agrarian University;
  • Lithuania – Institute of Animal Science of LVA;
  • Turkey – Afyon Kocatepe University, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Nutrition;
  • Romania – Institute of Biology and Animal Nutrition (IBNA), Balotești;
  • Slovakia – Slovak Agricultural Research Centre, Nitra;
  • North Macedonia – Institute of Animal Science, Skopje;
  • Vietnam – National Institute of Animal Science, Hanoi;
  • China;

The most important part of the contractual relations is the joint work on 11 specific topics. Projects under the Ministry of Education and Science with international participation are also being developed, involving Greece, France, and Belgium.

The main result of international cooperation during the last three years has been the fact that our Institute has become visible to many institutes beyond the borders of our country and those of our closest neighbors. Our efforts are directed toward becoming a desirable partner in international consortia.

A positive expression of international cooperation is also the direct participation of our scientists in significant international scientific events, which exceeded 20 in 2009 alone.

We maintain very close contacts with former colleagues who are now successfully working and developing careers in the USA, England, Australia, and other countries.

The goal of our international cooperation is to clearly understand the strengths and weaknesses of our work and Institute and to remain realistic in our expectations. This can be greatly supported through contact with colleagues from foreign scientific institutes, opening new horizons for future work, especially for our highly promising young researchers.
